Dramatic Play with Animals

There has been a lot of interaction this week with the animals in our classroom.
In fact they've been joining us for snack and lunch as well.

ABC Step On It/ Marching Band/ Tallying Points

Another unexpected day of learning and discovery!
Sammy brought in instruments for a marching band.
We marched on our lower case letters.
When the music stopped we picked up and identified the letter we stepped on.
We also came up with a word a letter began with.

Skills:
Standard 1.1: Children express themselves through and develop an appreciation of creative movement and dance.
Standard 1.2: Children express themselves through and develop an appreciation of music.
Standard 3.3: Children demonstrate emergent reading skills.
 





We tallied our points after identifying the letter we stepped on.

Skill: Standard 4.3: Children understand patterns, relationships and classification.  






At the end, we read the graph together. It was exciting to see how many points we collected.
We're beginning to get an understanding of how tallying points work.
We love crossing it at number five.
