Ice Experiment

With the cold weather beginning the children found a block of ice outside.
Morah Mimi: I wonder how that got there.
Chana: Because it rained.
Morah Mimi: Is rain ice?
Jordan: No
Hannah: It froze!
Morah Mimi: How?
Jordan: because it's cold outside.

The children were amazed at how the leaves got stuck inside the block of ice.
Chana: I want to bring it inside.

We brought it inside and place it in a bucket.
Experiment: Morah Mimi: What do you think will happen to the ice?
Children: It will melt!

Then next day, we found the ice melted and the leaves and dirt separated.
Morah Mimi: What happened to our ice?
Sammy: It melted.
How?
Hannah: Because it's warm here.
As winter approaches we are beginning to experiment with ice and water.
This was a great natural introduction.
