Feeding the Hungry

Morah Mimi shows the children a picture of a poor hungry family living outside collecting food to eat.
The children all brought money to buy special presents for themselves
and their families, but the same time I wanted them to realize that not everyone is so lucky.
After they all held out the money they had, I spoke to them about children who are poor and they don't have any
money to buy food (forget presents).
The children really got it and were so excited to donate the food they had.
They were also able to relate it to the charity we give everyday in school.
We sang our Tzedakah (charity) song:
Tzedakah, Tzedakah, Tzedakah
That is what we give
To poor people to help them live
So they'll have food and clothes
So they'll have food and clothes
Even a penny  day
Before we start our day!

The children take a closer look at the picture.
They were so excited to donate their food.
We realized that we had enough cans to form a Canorah/ Menorah!

Our Menorah full of kindness!
