What is a map? Where do we live?

Being that the children have a tremendous interest in animals we've decided to explore which animals live on each continent.  We began with sn introduction to the map.  We have used Maps throughout the year, so it's something the children are familiar and comfortable with.

We began by looking at maps to get an understanding that there is a whole world out there.

Morah Yehudice: " What do we use to help us figure out how to get somewhere?

Hannah: We use a map.
Chana: What is a map?
Amanda: Maps help you go someplace.
Sammy: They help you know where to go.
Aiden: Toy Story has maps.
Hannah: We have to use maps to get places.

Amanda: Tinkerbell has maps sometimes.
Sammy: A map is square.
Chana: Treasures are on a map.
Hannah: They have paths to get there.

We also learned that there are many different kinds of maps.
We found Franklin Lakes on the map too!

 We then had fun drawing a map of our building.

Mothers Day cards

I hope you all enjoyed your mothers day cards.  The kids had a "hands on" experience making them for you.  The children all chose their favorite color for their hand print / flower.

 Once the paint was dry, we each had the chance to write our own names. 

Our Mothers Day vase craft

Everyone had a chance to pick a color chalk to use for our Mothers day vase craft.
It was such a beautiful day out we decided to start it outside.
We each had a pile of salt that we had to color.  This was great for our motor skills as it takes alot of effort to color the salt.

We then had to pour the colored salt into the vase.  Some of us created patterns or rainbows with the colors.

Obstacle Course - Freeze Dance

We had a really fun time with our obstacle course.  We had to bounce, roll, balance and crawl our way through it.  We all had quite the workout.

 We then played a great game based on duck duck goose but all the children came up with words affiliated with Shabbat.
